I seem to be back into training. 5 day training week was not all that bad. Should have done something Thursday but hey I was lazy and it was raining. The weather is taking a turn for the worst of late and its making it hard to get excited about getting out there.
Wednesday was lap swimming and I completed my usual technique session. Not a bad session really. No one else was in the pool which was kind of strange. Maybe they knew something that I didn't. But I didn't see anything floating so what I don't know will not hurt me. I think that's how it goes.
I have started the search for a coach. Mike who made me a plan for the last year will be busy training himself so I should get myself someone to make me a plan and maybe do a few group sessions. I know there are a heap of things I can do better especially for the run and ride which I have never been shown the correct way. We will see how the search goes. I signed up for the Wollongong splash and dash on Sunday so I can meet a coach I have been told about.
Saturday I went for a ride on the tri bike. It start ok but I heard a noise coming from the bottom bracket and only got worse as I went. 20km in I stopped and called for a lift home. I thought I better stop before something really bad happened. On further investigation I found that the left crank arm had some movement in it. I called the bike shop and its booked in to get a service and be looked at on Tuesday. Just hope that it is an easy fix and will be fine for the club champs on the weekend.
Sunday I headed to Wollongong for the splash and dash. 650m swim and a 5km run. What a wonderful day. The sun came out for the first time this week. I was worried it might be a wet race. Felt a bit strange not having a proper transition area and no bike. It was a no wetsuit swim but it was flat in the ocean today. My timing was 13:23 for the swim and 21:49 for the run with a 29sec transition. I will have to wait for the real results to know how close my timing is to the real thing. I think I got 6th in the 30-44years category.
I did get to meet John the tri coach. I didn't get as much time as I would have liked but as he is going to be at club champs I am going to catch up with him again and ask a few more questions.
I did have a nice chat to a guy at the simple cycles stand about their bike fit service. It sounded pretty comprehensive. I think I am going to get booked in for both the Tri and road bike. Something I need to do before I get into the long miles of training.
